YOUR DOWNLOAD WILL BEGIN....
Remove the NOSPAM from the following email address and tell us what you need and we will put together a demo for you.
getmunax@NOSPAMmunax.com
Note that the Continues Demo will run automatically, no management needed.
If you have downloaded
the NFR version, here are some quick instructions. (You will get a lot of help by reading the manual
after the installation).
Installation instructions
Be sure to be logged as Administrator.
Uninstall any previous version of MUNAX.
When the installation begins, you will be asked to fill out two files, the personal.mnx
file and the urls.txt file, that's all.
For the file personal.mnx, if you access the www through a proxy, remove
the text NONE and type in the IP address and the PORT number as of: 90.123.87.23:8078 (do
not use these numbers !!!). Then SAVE the file and close it.
For the file urls.txt, first clear it. Then fill it out with the URLs you
want to sample & index. An URL may be a one or several directories or files on your
harddisk, the local area network or on the www. After editing the file urls.txt, it might
look like:
c:\mydir\mydir2\||N
d:\
c:\mydir\mydir2\mydoc.pdf
\\themachine\adir\adir2\
\\themachine\adir\adir2\adoc.doc
http://www.oursite.com/||N
http://www.oursite2.com/
http://www.othersite.com/
MUNAX will automatically follow the links on the www pages and directories it finds.
However, you can limit this by appending ||N after an URL. When done with the file, SAVE
it and close it. Installation will then run to completion.
NOTE: After installation you can, at any
time, edit the urls.txt file by: First go to the Start Menue, then Programs, find Munax
and then the file urls.txt.
Accessing your search engine
You access the web server of Munax by entering one of the following in your browser:
http://<your Computer's Name>:8090/index.htm
http://<your IP address>:8090/index.htm
Expiration and runtime mode
The Demo license will run for approximately 30 days. After that period you can try to
download the Demo version again, but this will only work if the Demo version on this
page has a later release date.
The Demo version runs in automatic mode. The purchase version, IServer Personal or higher,
you can set to run either in automatic mode or operator mode (you manage/ control it
yourself) and it comes with manuals and with parameter files so you change the way MUNAX
looks and make it execute just the way you want it to.
When can I query my search engine ?
As soon as MUNAX have sampled and indexed the documents you have typed in, in the urls.txt
file. However, the time before you can do your first query depends on other things like
the speed of your internet connection. Also, MUNAX makes some delays when processing to
avoid using up the resources on your computer. These delays are somewhat longer in the
Demo version.
MUNAX logs its actions in the file c:\munaxerrorlog2.txt and you can check that file for
the text string: "SUCCESS opening query system|0|srvwww". When its there, your
system is queryable.
How do I make a query ?
For the Demo version, the web server of MUNAX is setup to listen on port 8090. In your web
browser, type the following in the Address field:
http://<your computer's name>:8090/index.htm OR
http://<your IP address>:8090/index.htm
When searching, MUNAX says
"busy"
The Demo version Continuous is normally queryable within 10-40 minutes.
The Demo version Night is queryable the next morning (it does its job at
night 01.00 - 06.00).
However, the time before you can do your first query depends on things like the speed of
your internet connection. Also, MUNAX makes some delays when indexing to avoid using up
the resources on your computer. These delays are somewhat longer in the Demo version.
MUNAX logs its actions in the file c:\munaxerrorlog2.txt and you can check that file for
the text string: "SUCCESS opening query system|0|srvwww". When its there, your
system is queryable.
The Demo does not seem to work. What's
wrong ?
There might be several reasons for this, for instance:
The Demo license period, 30 days, has expired.
You have installed a copy you got from a friend. That won't work. You must download the
MUNAX Demo from this site to get the correct serial number.
Your internet connection is out of order or is of bad performance.
Your web access goes through a proxy, but you did not enter the IP:PORT for the proxy when
installing MUNAX.
The URLs in urls.txt are not entered correctly. Please take a look in the file
\srvpath\Editing_urls.txt on how to do it.
Your computer is low on memory. Recommendend size of primary memory is 256MB minimum and
1GB for the virtual memory.
You can also check the file c:\munaxerrorlog2.txt for any error that might have occured.
MUNAX has detected an error when sampling/indexing. This shows up as |ERROR| in the file
munaxerrorlog2.txt. Try to fix the error by restarting your computer.
How do I search within site and domain ?
siteSearch is enabled, for Demo purposes, in the Demo versions MUNAX IServer Night and
MUNAX Iserver Continuous. If you want it in your purchase version, you should include that
in your order when purchasing MUNAX. If you want it in an already purchased version of
MUNAX, you can order new license files.
MUNAX always seems to index whole
sites
Type ||N after the URL in urls.txt and MUNAX will Not follow links on
that page or directory.
munaxerrorlog2.txt says "Serial
number do not match"
You have installed MUNAX with an incorrect serial number. To get a correct serial number,
you must download MUNAX from this site.
When searching my friend's computer I
cannot see any images
He has probably used non-network paths, i.e. c:\adir\, when entering URLs in his urls.txt
file. The standard way of fixing this on Windows is to share the directory
"adir" and then enter the URL as \\machinename\adir\ where
"machinename" is the name of your friends computer.
I cannot find any manuals for editing the
search interface
The reason for this is that there are no manuals for the Demo version.
The purchase version of MUNAX comes with parameter files with hundreds of parameters you
can change to make MUNAX execute just the way you want it. It also comes with manuals
explaining how to operate MUNAX and how to change the layout & design of the query
result pages. All this is stripped away from the Demo version and what you see is the raw
sampling/indexing and search.
I cannot find a way to manually
manage/control MUNAX
The Demo version runs in automatic mode. The purchase version IServer Personal, or higher, you can set to run either
in automatic mode or operator mode (you manage/control it yourself).
MUNAX does not sample/index all my
documents
MUNAX indexes files with following extensions: htm html shtm shtml jhtm asp php php3 pdf
ps doc xls ppt rtf wp wp5 wp6 wpd txt c cpp h. More types are easily added in the purchase
version IServer Personal or higher. ps (postscript) is not enabled in the Demo or the
IServer Night / Continuous versions.
In the Demo version and in IServer Night / Continuous the maximum file size to sample is
set to 1 MB. Larger documents are ignored. You can of course order a IServer Night /
Continuous version that accept larger files than 1 MB. In the purchase version
IServer Personal or higher you can set the maximum file size to the value you want.
worSorter cannot start. pre-sorting
not finished eventhough npresorted is OK
After presorting, MUNAX needs at least 1 minute to auto-sync counters between subsystems.
Wait that time, and then try soclone # 1 again.
