About
Munax is a privately held Swedish company, headquartered in Stockholm. We develop large hyper-parallel execution (LHPE) search engine systems and deliver search solutions to search engines, mobile operators, corporates and individual sites. Products include Web Search Multimedia, Site Search (all-content) and Corporate Search. We also help our customers with Search Engine Optimizations.
The name of our company derives from Munin, one of the two ravens of the Norse Viking god Odin, and the binomial designation for the raven, corvus corax.
The story of Munax started in 2002 when Jan-Olof Granlund, in his spare time, begun the work on the specification of an all-content search engine. In 2005 the first design specification was completed, comprising things like five ranking algorithms independent of type of search, a unified file system and a messaging system interconnecting any number of computers (massive parallelism). The construction of PlayAudioVideo begun in June 2007 and was completed with the second beta in June 2008. Additional work, requested by the beta-testers, was completed in November 2008.

Jan-Olof Granlund, CEO.
After earning his Master of Science degree (M.sc.) in
Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering / Computer
Science, Jan-Olof has worked as chief designer an
developer at various companies designing software and
high tech systems like online gaming, image recognition
and protocols for computer networks.
He switched to working as an independent consultant,
with his own company, in larger projects as developer,
Chief designer, Verification expert and Project Manager.

Claes-Göran Fridh, CFO.
After earning his Master of Business (MBA), he started
in 1988, Affärsstrategerna (AFFS) and the company is
one of the first VC companies in Sweden. AFFS has
invested in more than 30 companies within Life Science,
IT and Wireless. Claes-Göran currently serves as AFFS's
CEO and he has been involved in more than 10 IPO's and
trade sales. In 1998, AFFS was registered on the OMX,
the Stockholm stock exchange.

Johan Berg, CPO.
After earning his Master of Science degree in Physics,
Johan continued at the IHM Business School where he
earned his Diploma in Marketing Economy. He started his
own business, Sprawl Consult, where he is the Chairman
and majority owner. Johan has served as Project Manager
and Sales director in large projects for many of the
major IT companies and mobile operators in Sweden. |
